Da Vu Nere Bologna
Matt Morgan is in high demand. In status as a free agent in 2026, the Virtus Bologna guard is targeted by Zalgiris and Paris. Discover the latest on his contract situation and the club’s renewal efforts.
Matt Morgan: The “X-Factor” of the Arcoveggio
Since joining Virtus Bologna on July 20, 2024, on a 1+1 contract, Matt Morgan has transformed from a EuroLeague rookie into an essential piece of coach Dusko Ivanovic’s rotation. The “wizard” from Concord was pivotal in the 2025 Scudetto victory and has only improved since, becoming a reliable spark plug both as a starter and off the bench.
EuroLeague Interest: Kaunas and Paris Calling
Morgan’s consistency has not gone unnoticed. BasketNews reports that Zalgiris Kaunas is showing strong interest, looking for his creative flair to lead their backcourt. Additionally, Paris Basketball, known for its high-octane offensive style, views Morgan as a perfect fit for their system.
The “V Nere” Strategy
Virtus Bologna’s priority is clear: renewal. The club wants to activate or negotiate a new long-term deal before the June 30, 2026 deadline. For Ivanovic, Morgan is the player who “breaks” games, and losing him would mean losing a year of tactical chemistry. As the club prepares to move into its new arena, keeping a fan favorite like Morgan is seen as vital for both sporting and commercial success.
